Go by your chest. If your chest and waist point to different sizes, use the chest.

How to measure

  • Use a soft cloth tape measure, not a steel builder's tape.
  • Measure over underwear or a thin base layer, not over a jersey or jacket.
  • Stand tall and relaxed — don't hold your breath or brace your stomach.
  • The tape should sit flat against you but never dig in. Snug, not tight.
  • Ask someone to help if you can. Self-measuring the chest and hip is where most mistakes happen.
  1. ChestRun the tape around the fullest part of the chest, straight under the armpits. Keep it level all the way round and breathe normally — don't puff up.
  2. WaistFind the narrowest part of your middle, usually just above the navel. Rest the tape there without pulling it in.
  3. HipStand with your feet together and measure around the fullest part of your seat, keeping the tape level front to back.
